Lakeland Electric to share $724,000 of $2.6M power-pool software renewal over three years

Utility staff presented change order number 10 to consolidate and extend license, update, and support obligations for PCI GenTrader and related tools used by the Florida Municipal Power Pool. The three-year consolidated cost for all pool members is $2.6 million; Lakeland Electric’s share is roughly one-third, about $724,000. Staff said $250,000 of that is included in Lakeland Electric's FY26 budget and the remaining amounts will be subject to future budget approvals.
The commission approved the change order. Staff said the work will add hosted services, storage, and compute capacity and align support schedules across the pool. The change order has a retroactive effective date of Nov. 17, 2025, with costs to commence on Jan. 1, 2026.
