Staff: Woodland Park redevelopment is underway; erosion controls and grading in place

Miss Cole told the Parks and Recreation Committee that the Woodland Park redevelopment project has moved into preconstruction and initial site work, including erosion control, grading and protection of a US geodetic marker.
Miss Cole, a parks department staff member, told the committee the Woodland Park redevelopment project is underway and that a preconstruction meeting was held on June 10 with the general contractor and engineering and design firms. "Woodland Park redevelopment project is underway," she said, and staff have begun staging initial site protections.
Miss Cole said silt fencing and erosion control measures are already in place, grading has started, and the site team fenced off and quarantined a US geodetic marker so contractors know not to disturb it. She also said surviving vegetation and trees to remain were identified and other trees removed as part of early site preparation. The update noted the attendance of representatives from the township, the general contractor (A. H. Cornell), site engineers (Gilmore and Associates), landscape architects (Simone Collins), Montgomery County, and MRC as the playground and pavilion installer.
Chair Sarah Burns invited questions from commissioners; none were raised during the update. The committee heard the report as informational; no formal vote or action on the Woodland Park work was taken at this meeting.
