Lake Worth Beach CRA details affordable‑housing projects and grants, pitches neighborhood marketing

Joan Oliva, speaking for the Lake Worth Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, gave a quarterly update at the June 2 commission meeting reviewing the CRA's active projects and funding sources.
"We have 5 federal grants going on right now. All of them are for affordable housing," Oliva told the commission, and she described recent property acquisitions, demolitions of derelict buildings, and partnerships with Habitat and the Community Land Trust. She said the CRA helped finance villas that sold at roughly $180,000, highlighted a 91‑unit Pinnacle project proposed along Sixth Avenue (with an average targeting families making 60% AMI), and reported Madison Terrace senior units are approaching certificate‑of‑occupancy.
Oliva also previewed a downtown marketing campaign, "Find Your Flavor," street banners and clings for vacant storefronts, and an upcoming housing fair with banks and nonprofit partners. Commissioners asked for timelines for openings and for continued coordination to expedite permits; staff said they have started a funded planner position to help fast‑track site plans and will pursue accessory dwelling unit (ADU) design resources with local universities.
