Sharon readies volunteers, tables and raffles for Green Up Day on May 2

Sharon’s Green Up Day is set for May 2 with coordinated drop-off, volunteer shifts, and outreach. Troi Perkins shared event flyers and sign-up locations; Green Up bags are available at the Town Offices and Baxter Memorial Library, and volunteers may work two- or four-hour shifts. Raffle tickets will be issued for those who return trash by noon, and the Town Garage will remain open until 5 p.m. for later drop-offs.
"Green Up Day bags can be arranged to be picked up if they cannot make it for drop off on Green Up Day as long as they are stored," Troi Perkins said, describing pick-up flexibility for volunteers. Foster Gardens will provide free pollinator plants at a table, and the SCC will place invasive-plant information next to Donna Foster’s table at the base of the Town Garage.
Logistics were clarified for volunteers: the Town Garage will provide bathroom access; Troi obtained a coupon to help purchase water and snacks; if the trash truck fills, Allen can bring another truck; Nicola provided volunteer forms for non-town-official volunteers. Organizers asked residents and community groups to publicize the event through neighborhood channels and school contacts.
