The Sharon Conservation Commission agreed to support an educational event at the Swett property known as "My Walden," following outreach reported from a regional conservation gathering. Luis Bango said the Upper Valley Land Trust's Holly Henderson expressed interest in coordinating the event and that two foresters have offered to contribute their time and expertise.
"SCC is happy to support an event at My Walden and want to know more of what that entails," Luis Bango said, noting that June is preferred because May is already busy; June 20 is being considered. The commission discussed duties such as staffing a table or leading guided walks to show flora and fauna and host activities for children.
Commissioners also noted a separate educational outing scheduled for May 30 at Minister's Lot with the county forester and the state ecologist; members emphasized that multiple events can run in the season so residents have options for participation. The commission asked organizers to return with more details on roles and logistics before confirming a date.
The minutes list the commission members present and record that the group endorsed supporting the outreach in ways available to them, while reserving specifics until organizers provide a proposed plan.
