District highlights REACH University partnership; 17 Caddo staff converted from classified to certified

Emily Stanford, the district Human Resources officer, told the board that Caddo Parish had formed a memorandum of understanding with REACH University to provide a pathway for classified employees and substitutes to earn degrees and transition to certified roles.
Stanford said REACH University’s model lets employees turn work experience into a degree for $75 per month and reported that REACH celebrated a graduating class of 457 across nine states this cycle; 17 of those graduates were Caddo employees, the largest Louisiana cohort. Several named employees were recognized for moving from paraprofessional or substitute roles into certified positions across the district.
Superintendent Sandy Burton and staff noted the initiative supports the district’s “grow‑your‑own” strategy for teacher recruitment and retention, and the graduates will transition into certified status and corresponding pay changes later this year.
