The Caddo Parish School Board unanimously voted July 21 to confirm a superintendent pay increase that had already been approved as part of the district budget process and to amend the superintendent’s contract so it aligns with board actions regarding state and local salary increases for certified staff.
Board member Miss Bell moved the confirmation and Miss Yates seconded. Bell said the raise had been budgeted and compared the district’s superintendent pay to neighboring parishes, noting local comparisons and budget deliberations supported the decision. “We approved that budget last week last month,” Bell said while explaining why the superintendent’s raise should be ratified in contract language.
Board legal counsel explained the contract amendment is intended to prevent inconsistency between the superintendent’s contract and the board’s budget motions and to protect the district in audits. The board’s action ratifies the previously approved budget decision and directs staff to amend the contract language accordingly.
The vote carried unanimously. No dollar figure was changed at the meeting; board members noted the superintendent’s pay had been discussed and budgeted in prior meetings.
