Board seeks update on broadband buildout coverage and franchise agreement

Select Board member Shane Beattie asked why he had been told the broadband buildout would not go down Bridge Street; Land Use Coordinator Robin Irving said she had heard Elm Street also was not included in this build but might be covered in a future phase. Shane said he believed the original presentation indicated in-town areas would be covered.
Robin Irving noted that a franchise agreement should be in place for such buildouts, and Kathy-Jean Lavoie suggested it would be a good time to invite the broadband provider back to a board meeting for an updated presentation. No franchise agreement was adopted at the meeting and no provider was named in the minutes.
