Land Use Coordinator Robin Irving told the Select Board that Nancy Southworth asked for permission to research placing the Town Forest into a conservation easement and that preliminary research indicates an easement could be tailored to the board's preferences. The proposal would allow the town to specify allowed uses of the forest, but no formal recommendation or vote was made at the April 7 work session.
Select Board member Shane Beattie said he is "not in favor of restricting any town property," while Kathy-Jean Lavoie said she would attend the Conservation Commission meeting to hear further discussion about trails and easement options. Robin Irving said she would take the board's views back to the Conservation Commission for further consideration. The board did not take formal action at the meeting.
