Brett Thomas, the county finance director, presented eight finance-related resolutions and asked the board to approve them in a single motion. He said most cash transfers were routine but highlighted a $106,000 transfer from the sheriff's donations account to help pay for updated dispatch consoles following a $170,000 equipment purchase supported partly by community donations.
"We wanted to appreciate that and just make note of that moving from the donations account over into our accounts to pay for that bill," Thomas said. (Brett Thomas, Finance Director)
Thomas also presented the creation of a Sheriff's Motorcycle Safety Grant Fund for fiscal year 2027 with authorized appropriations of $65,362.50 and an OCJS Office Violent Crimes Reduction Grant Fund for $27,000. He listed other routine items including cash transfers, expenditure adjustments, county-official expenses, and the weekly bills. Commissioners moved and approved the eight resolutions by roll call.
Why it matters: The actions authorize grant funds and internal transfers that support sheriff operations and other county programs. Thomas noted the dispatch-console purchase was a sizable capital expense partly offset by donations; the new grant funds establish accounting structure to receive and spend award money.
Noted uncertainty: The transcript lists the weekly-bills total in a format that appears corrupted ("1,689,406 thousand and $80.80 cents"); that figure should be verified against official minutes and the county financial system before publication.
