Library construction on track for March 31, trustees hear; skylight and masonry drawing close

Jennifer, the owner’s project manager, told the joint meeting the site saw “a tremendous amount of activity” in June as MEP trades, roofing and masonry work advanced. "Our new projected substantial completion date, which has not changed from last month, remains at March 31," she said, adding that the team was not tracking additional delays and that 21 RFIs were processed in June.
Trustees asked detailed questions about the Mary Atwood skylight and roof flashings. Mark, a project representative, said the skylight “illuminates through the attic area” and that a plywood protection layer currently prevents viewing the final light effect; he reported observing no water intrusion after a torrential rain during an early July site check. Leah, a project team member, explained insulation placement and said mineral (rock) wool is installed “between the exterior studs.” Several trustees asked the team to review flashing details and confirm waterproofing as the masonry work continues.
Jennifer also showed photos and said the skylight installation was being tracked separately for CPC grant accounting. She noted there were no safety incidents reported for June. The OPM and project leads agreed to take a closer look at flashing and provide follow-up details to the committee.
