The meeting also included the swearing-in of Joseph Rees as a Harrison police officer; presenters noted the department lost a long‑serving officer to retirement in April and that hiring aims to restore steady, long-term staffing. The mayor described the Kroger liquor decision and then the meeting proceeded to reports and other business.
Council members publicly thanked the charter committee and the chief; the police committee later reported department statistics and noted one open police position remains while another new officer begins field training.
