Finance Director Sherily Haynes told the commission the funds for events had been budgeted in the fiscal year 2026 budget and that the city previously set aside $25,000 for each event; a March budget amendment added $50,000, of which $25,000 was allocated to events, bringing the total event budget to $75,000. Commissioner Maxwell Williams explained the item needed to be considered at the special meeting to allow enough time for outreach and promotion. The motion to approve resolution 2026‑045 passed unanimously.
