Council approves temporary waiver to permit bow hunting on specified village land

The council adopted Resolution 26-047 to temporarily waive section 549.09 of the village codified ordinances and allow bow hunting on designated village lands with permits issued by Crazy Blue and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) pursuant to section 505.11. Director Becky read the resolution; Mayor Martin explained this mirrors an arrangement with the Nature Conservancy and emphasized monitoring and enforcement responsibilities. "This mirrors the Nature Conservancy one that did the last meeting," Mayor Martin said, noting the resolution is annual and subject to ODNR laws and village oversight.
Council moved and seconded the resolution and then voted by roll call. One councilor abstained (Patterson said he works there); the clerk recorded five votes in favor, zero opposed and one abstention. The council noted ODNR will enforce state hunting laws and that the village can terminate the arrangement if necessary.
