Several members of the public and written submissions urged the committee to rename Chavez after Roberto G. Sanchez. Sofia said Chavez had been a ‘‘comfortable and safe space’’ for her, and the family representative told the committee that being associated with the Sanchez legacy was an honor and an investment in Sofia’s future. Chelsea (facilitator) thanked Sofia and confirmed translation and accessibility supports would be available at the July 30 public hearing to allow broader community participation.
