Cynthia W. Curry was sworn in as the City of Palatka’s interim city manager during the commission’s July 23 meeting after the commission adopted a resolution appointing her to the role.
“Do you solemnly swear or affirm that you will faithfully perform the duties of interim city manager,” the official oath asked, and Curry answered in the affirmative. The resolution authorizing the appointment and employment agreement passed unanimously. After the oath, Curry told the commission she intended to provide steady administrative leadership and briefed the body on immediate priorities.
Curry’s early agenda items include finalizing budget assumptions, following up on the Newtown Museum and Jenkins Community Center discussions and overseeing ARPA fund obligations. “We need direction from the commission on moving forward with the improvements in the Jenkins Center,” Curry said during her report on museum and community-center matters, urging staff to scope the cost of build-out before committing operating support.
The commission made no additional staffing changes at the meeting; Curry’s appointment is effective immediately and staff will return with recommended contract terms and implementation steps as needed.
