Council approves transfer of 2019 Dodge Durango from police to fire department

The Aurelia City Council approved transferring a 2019 Dodge Durango from the police department to the fire department during its July 20 meeting.
Police Chief Brian Flikeid and Fire Chief Luke Erpelding discussed the transfer on the record, noting the Durango’s police computer system will remain with the police department. Erpelding agreed the fire department would repaint the vehicle and purchase a replacement computer system for the new police unit. Council Member Bruce moved to add the Durango to the Aurelia Fire Department; Bleil seconded and the motion passed on a recorded vote with all members voting 'aye'.
The council did not attach additional funding in this motion for repainting or equipment purchase; the minutes record that responsibility for repainting and acquiring replacement electronics was accepted by the fire department.
