City hears update on park, dome and Main Street lighting; decorative LEDs expected in August

He said AP (a vendor) proposed about 33 solar panel lights for one area with an estimated cost near $100,000 and that AP will begin replacing decorative street lights in August once contracts and work orders are finalized; he emphasized the city must evaluate whether to lease lights from a vendor or purchase and own them.
"They talked about 33 lights right now, about a $100,000," Arredondo said, and urged commissioners that his next report will compare AP's cost/return-on-investment for lease versus ownership and include boots-on-the-ground checks. Commissioners pressed for deliverables and a schedule; staff said drawings are ready, AEP engineering should be paid to release estimates for some pole work (roughly $5,000 for bolts on a specific park installation), and decorative LED conversions across about 100 lights are slated for an August start.
Commissioners asked staff to return in two to three months with updates on the dome lighting, baseball-field options and illumination testing; Arredondo said he will continue quarterly reporting to the commission and assess the dome and trail lighting before the commission decides on contract or capital outlay.
