Commission advances booklets, website updates, airport display and follows up on possible steamboat artifact

Commission Member Patti Duffy reported the Cedar Hill Cemetery booklet is "nearly done" and that the Commission expects to begin printing during the current fiscal year; she also reported progress updating the Ft. Pierre historic homes booklet. Commissioners discussed website areas that could benefit from review and agreed to bring suggestions to the next meeting.
Commission Member Ted Spencer briefed the group on development of a display for the Pierre airport highlighting local aviation history, including the airport's WWII pilot training role and Charles Lindbergh's 1924 visit. Robert Kean said Mayor Hanson had been contacted about a local contractor who may have recovered a riverboat/steamboat artifact; Kean will follow up to gather information and identify preservation entities with interest.
