St. Louis Board approves $1.05 million in bills, amends 2025-26 budgets and forwards 2026-27 proposal

The St. Louis Board of Education voted June 22 to pay $1,050,746.86 in board bills and to adopt amended 2025-26 budgets for the General Fund, Food Service and Student Activity accounts. Member William Bosquez moved the bills payment; the roll call recorded ayes from President Carrie Salladay, Members John Pavlik, William Bosquez, Chad Clark and Carla Trevino; Members Kelly Bebow and Steve Brimmer were absent.

In the same session the board approved an amendment to the 2025-26 budgets that includes a $137,514 transfer from the Capital Project Fund to the General Fund. Member John Pavlik moved the budget amendment; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with the same ayes and absences. Board documents presented and reviewed at the meeting note the transfer and the amended account totals.

The board also approved the Truth-in-Taxation notification and the proposed 2026-27 budgets for the General Fund, Food Service and Student Activity accounts. During the presentation Member William Bosquez noted the proposed General Fund fund balance is projected to fall below the previously established guideline of 15 percent; the board approved moving the proposed budgets forward for Truth-in-Taxation compliance and public notice.

Finance Director Stacey Haag presented and the board later approved the district's 2026 Tax Rate Request form L-4029. That filing is required to set the district's taxable rate for the coming year and to comply with state tax-notice deadlines. The board recorded its approval by roll-call vote.
