The City Council voted unanimously to accept Councilor William (Bill) Doyle's resignation effective immediately. Councilor Parks moved the order and Councilor Edwards seconded; the roll-call vote passed 6-0.
City Administrator Pelletier said the city clerk would advertise a call for letters of interest for the Ward 3 vacancy; applicants seeking appointment must submit by Aug. 12 and a public hearing for interested applicants will be held on the Aug. 17 council meeting night. Because Doyle resigned outside the 75-day window, the position will also be on the Nov. 3 special election ballot to fill the remainder of the term.
Councilors offered notes of thanks to Doyle for his service and several speakers at public comment also thanked him for past work on affordability and the Camp Ellis jetty project.
