Valerie Brunneau, Scotland Elementary School Superintendent, presented the proposed 2026–2027 school budget to the Board during the May 19 meeting. The presentation was part of 'Audience with Citizens' and provided the Board an opportunity to review SES staffing and operating needs ahead of the town's budget hearings.
Treasurer David Zito presented a requested budget transfer to move $700 from RD11 to the SES propane line item. Selectman Mike Gurnack moved to approve the transfer and John Aldrich seconded; "Motion carried." The transfer was approved to ensure SES fuel needs are covered while the town finalizes broader budget decisions.
Board members flagged SES expenses—estimated to rise roughly $80,000 for FY27—among the items that will be examined during the May 26 hearing.
