Engineering: City managing more than $29 million in projects; key statuses reported

The city's engineering representative provided the council with a status update on July 21, saying the department currently manages more than $29,000,000 in active design and construction work spanning drainage, streets, facilities and private development.
"We are currently managing more than $29,000,000 in active design and construction work," the engineering representative said. He reported specific project progress: the Lateral B1 project is approximately 64% complete, the fire department maintenance facility is about 63% complete, and seven grant-funded projects total roughly $9,500,000 with Benton Road ready for a preconstruction meeting. He also said the council chambers renovation is complete.
Engineering staff noted wet weather has affected schedules and that staff are monitoring field conditions to limit cost overruns. The department also said it will issue a request for qualifications for the stormwater master plan after the related ordinance is approved.
