A Bonanzaville representative (speaker 13) asked commissioners to approve a $240,000 funding request for 2027, highlighting an increase in visitors and new programming since the opening of Arthur Town Hall.
The representative said Bonanzaville saw 34,000 visitors last year and hosted a national traveling exhibit and performances that helped revenue and community use. They also described a federal grant—characterized as the museum—s first federal award—earmarked for stewardship and inventory of a legacy collection, with a 50% cost-share requirement over a three-year project that would add about 30,000 catalogued items.
At the same time, the presenter warned of deferred maintenance across the campus and at least one building currently closed, citing foundation, roofing and window repairs as ongoing needs. Commissioners asked practical questions about donation intake and the collections committee—s process for deaccessioning or returning items; the presenter described a detailed process for outreach and a 60-day public notification period before disposal or transfer to another museum.
A motion to approve the requested budget was made and carried after a roll call.
