Administrator reports Ascend coding complete for 2026 tax season; testing to begin in August

County administrator (speaker 9) updated the commission on tax software work and a 2027 software evaluation during administrator comments. He said Ascend —s coding for the 2026 tax season is complete and the county is awaiting testing materials to start testing in August, with vendor staff returning in the second week of August to assist.
"As mentioned, we've been looking at different, for 2027, we have a software that we're looking at a new one," the administrator said, describing site visits to four counties as part of a broader 2027 procurement evaluation. Commissioner Whittington (speaker 11) asked about a backup plan if testing does not go smoothly; the administrator said the backup would be manual processing as done last year. The administrator also reminded the commission the next meeting is scheduled for July 30.
