County denies two Alter Trading business personal-property abatement petitions
Summary

Weld County Assessor Jason Marini told the board that Alter Trading Corporation (doing business as Anderson Salvage and another salvage yard) incorrectly reported acquisition years in their declarations, which affected business personal property valuations. The assessor recommended denying both petitions and holding the 2025 values at $25,426,431 (P0000897) and $946,271 (P0006002), noting staff are working with the taxpayer to determine the correct values and that the petitioner may appeal to the Board of Assessment Appeals.
No representative for the taxpayer was present in the room for the first petition; the assessor requested denial to preserve the taxpayer’s right to appeal. Commissioners voted to deny both petitions and the record notes the denials preserve the appeal process.
