Edgerton sets Greenspace closures and outlines America 250, fall car show and event options

Council approved a standing annual schedule of holiday and event closures for the Greenspace to be established each December. Recreation Superintendent Brittany Paddock described plans for America 250 programming on July 3 that would include a veterans' breakfast with free meals for veterans, live eagle demonstrations, a Mad Science show about fireworks, inflatables and family activities. Paddock also proposed moving the Meat Inferno barbecue event to September to avoid competing events and suggested an October Trunk‑or‑Treat car show along Nelson Street for families.
Separately, staff reported that the Frontier Days organizing committee is considering moving from a summer to a fall date and that the City has historically provided most funding; Linn said the City reduced its donation this year from $30,000 to $15,000 and Mayor Roberts proposed a work session with the committee to discuss alternatives. Scoopy’s Café has closed and staff said a local resident hopes to open a new Happy Cow Café before spring break. Council approved the Greenspace closure schedule 4-0.
