The Edgerton City Council adopted Resolution No. 02-26-26A on Feb. 26, updating the City’s employee policies and regulations to align with federal and state requirements and to add sections on artificial intelligence, social media, uniforms, vendor relationships and ethics. Kara Banks and Trey Whitaker, assistants to the City Administrator, presented the changes and said the updates resolve language conflicts and add clearer legal terminology.
On retiree insurance Ms. Banks said staff "reached out to the City’s insurance provider. Retirees are eligible at 125% of the cost of our full-time employees. Retirees can have insurance through the City at a premium until they are eligible for Medicare." City Administrator Beth Linn noted the last employee manual update was completed in 2009. Councilmembers asked about disability and maternity leave; staff said short- and long-term disability are offered as voluntary benefits and the City does not provide paid maternity leave. Council approved the resolution 4-0.
