City of Beaufort finance director Allen Eisenman said "it may take 1 to 4 years for Beaufort to receive the funds once authorized by Congress," and that the city would use the allocation for the Port Republic and Carteret Streets drainage project if and when the money arrives. WRDA packages are advanced in multi-year congressional cycles and must receive full congressional approval before any distribution occurs.
