Commissioners press sidewalk and school-bus safety questions for Nod Road development

Attorney Tim Hollister and engineer Scott Hesketh said the applicant would install a sidewalk or bus shelter if the Town or Board of Education required it, but cautioned that disconnected sidewalks can encourage unsafe pedestrian behavior. As a compromise, the applicant offered an 8-by-8-foot concrete pickup pad at the driveway intersection with Nod Road for safer boarding and said it would coordinate pickup logistics with the BOE. Chair Lisa Levin asked staff to note these concerns in the record for future conditions and coordination with OSTA and the BOE.
