Manager reports March usage of 22.6M gallons; manganese stirred after leak, samples clear

Chair Paul opened discussion of the manager’s report and asked the district manager, Dusty Paint, for details.
“There was 1 leak on the system for the month of March 2026. Total usage for the month was 22,628,000 gallons with the daily average was 729,000 gallons. Stage 2 samples look great. Monthly Bactu samples were absent,” Dusty reported. He also itemized maintenance costs (mainline repair $354.90, sample charges $64) and noted 11 new meters installed.
Board members asked whether the brownish/manganese reports represented a health concern or settled material from the pipe. Dusty said the manganese was “like dirt on the pipe” stirred during the leak and that crews flushed valves and returned to finish flushing when pockets reappeared; he added that most complaints surfaced on Facebook and not via after-hours calls to the office.
The board voted to approve the manager’s report as presented. Members also requested more regular reporting on purchases vs. sales of water and asked staff to include the buy/sell variance in future manager reports and to explore whether new billing/accounting software could provide clearer loss metrics.
