County agrees to lower Neighborhood Revitalization Plan threshold; Leoti to seek adoption

Mayor Chris Kreutzer told council that he attended a County Commissioners meeting where the Neighborhood Revitalization Plan (NRP) was discussed. The NRP offers property tax rebates for residential, commercial or agricultural improvements that increase assessed value; the current minimum increase is $50,000 and commissioners agreed to consider lowering it to $25,000 to broaden eligibility.
Kreutzer said the county, city and school board will each need to approve any revision to the plan. Council did not take a final vote on adopting a revised NRP at the February 17 meeting but instructed the mayor to continue coordination with county officials on the proposed change.
