Commissioners read into the record a letter from John Maloney thanking Jonathan Veil and Mary Walker of the VA office for assistance securing recognition for a service injury more than 55 years old. Chair (S2) said the county appreciated the VA staffers’ assistance and provided the letter for the public record.
S2 also said Jefferson County veterans receive about $800,000 a month in compensation across all sources, and that money has local economic benefits. The board accepted the letter into the record and indicated appreciation for the work the VA office performs for veterans.
