Following an executive session, the Town of Hochatown Board of Trustees authorized legal counsel to pursue additional litigation related to an open-records request submitted by Crystal Joslin and determined the request did not qualify as "new media" under the Open Records Act for fee exemptions.
The board also approved several personnel actions. The trustees authorized a performance bonus for the town account administrator under the employee's contract; they approved an offer to Lindsey Gammon for administrative assistant at $22 per hour plus benefits (subject to background checks); approved an offer to Justin Cherry as building-code inspector and code enforcement officer at an annual salary of $52,500 plus benefits (subject to background checks); and approved hiring a full-time police officer at $25 per hour who will also participate as a volunteer firefighter per department policy.
The board further approved hiring three additional firefighters (Chris Bearden, Alexander Lindley, Joshua White) at $17 per hour (pending physicals/background checks as required) and promoted Aaron Marsh to fire captain with an hourly rate of $21. Roll-call votes were recorded and the motions carried for the personnel items recorded in the transcript.
Board members recorded no action on litigation or personnel during executive session itself; all authorizations and hires were taken in open session after reconvening.
