Bull described four district types — Commercial Recreation, Commercial Light, Commercial General, and Heavy Commercial — and said the overlay is intended to address site design elements such as facades, landscaping, signage and lighting. "This is intended to conserve your scenic and natural resources and promote outdoor recreation uses," Bull said of the Commercial Recreation district. She showed examples of facade palettes (wood, masonry, limited metal accents), landscaping buffers and low-profile signage used in other scenic towns.
Trustees complimented the presentation and asked to receive the PDF so they could submit comments. Bull said the planning commission is working in hand with the zoning team and the overlay will proceed through internal drafts, a planning-commission review, then back to the board of trustees for formal consideration.
