Council approved a $5,722.00 purchase of metal doors and frames for the Swensson Park restroom after staff described multiple deficiencies that made the building insecure and difficult to maintain in winter. The staff report said the current plywood solution is unsightly and is causing damage to wood frames; inspections showed rot, mold and damaged door jams as well as light-duty doors that cannot be secured.
Councilmember Kirsten Bruce moved to approve the purchase from Cheney Door; the motion was seconded by Council President Rebecca Van Der Wege and passed 8-0 by roll call vote. The purchase is intended to replace temporary plywood coverings and allow staff safer, more secure winter access to the facility.
