The staff report said the current plywood solution is unsightly and is causing damage to wood frames; inspections showed rot, mold and damaged door jams as well as light-duty doors that cannot be secured.
Councilmember Kirsten Bruce moved to approve the purchase from Cheney Door; the motion was seconded by Council President Rebecca Van Der Wege and passed 8-0 by roll call vote. The purchase is intended to replace temporary plywood coverings and allow staff safer, more secure winter access to the facility.
