Lindsborg council approves $100,000 transfer from half-cent sales tax for capital improvements

The Lindsborg City Council on Dec. 15 approved transferring $100,000 from the city's unallocated half-cent sales tax to the Capital Improvement Reserve Fund to address deferred maintenance, passing the motion 8-0 by roll call vote. Councilmember Larry Lysell moved the transfer and Councilmember Joshua Swanson seconded the motion.
City documents presented to the council listed estimated year-end half-cent sales tax revenue at $239,026.64. The agenda packet showed proposed transfers of $100,000 to the Capital Improvement Reserve Fund, $1,062.57 to the EMS Fund (noted as separate from the General Fund), and an intended application of $99,929.98 to the General Fund, leaving an estimated unallocated balance of $38,034.09. Administration indicated a final update will be provided at the Jan. 20, 2026 council meeting.
