Council approves replacing SmartCop with Tyler Technologies RMS to integrate police and court data

Councilmember Larry Lysell moved to approve purchasing Tyler Technologies software and hardware in 2025 using Police Department funds in place of the 2026 capital outlay; Councilmember Joshua Swanson seconded. The motion passed 8-0 by roll call vote. Staff noted an advantage is shared software with the municipal court, eliminating duplicate ticket entry and reducing data-entry errors.
Next steps: the police department will proceed with procurement and implementation planning, with the goal of integrating tickets and reports directly with court systems.
