OWEB staff brief committee on data tools, reporting and communications strategy

OWEB staff told the Tracking and Communicating Committee how the agency turns grantee data into searchable tools, regular reports and outreach products, and outlined planned uses of those systems to track restoration outcomes and inform partners and policymakers.
Courtney Schaff, OWEB's monitoring and reporting program manager, told the committee that OWEB gathers grant and project data into multiple systems and makes much of it discoverable for internal planning and public use. "We host a lot of information on completed projects," she said, and staff use the data to produce maps, county fact sheets and the Oregon Biennial Report.
Stephanie Page, OWEB deputy director, emphasized that reporting and communications are linked: data feed reports and stories, and communications amplify grantees and partners. The presentation laid out a workflow from grantee-submitted metrics through quality-control, publication in the Oregon Watershed Restoration Inventory (ORE) and display through Oregon Explorer mapping tools. Page noted the agency's strategic plan ties the communications strategy to outcomes and quarterly accountability reporting to the board.
