Edgerton reports $5.5 million in permit valuation and rising inspections in Q4; Phase 2 housing starts in March

Development Services Director Zach Moore presented the Q4 Community Development report with a $5,499,878 total permit valuation and 326 inspections in Q4. Moore said the city completed 1,059 inspections in 2025 (about double the prior year) and that Dwyer Farms has 82 total permits issued, 70 of those in 2025. He provided enforcement metrics (35 loose animals cited, 5 barking complaints, 52 new code violations, 4 citations) and said the city currently estimates its population at 1,854.
Moore told council that Phase 2 of new homes is scheduled to begin in March and that Phase 3 land disturbance work is underway. He said staff circulated a draft update to Article 6 of the Unified Development Code to streamline processes and that the draft would return for council feedback at a future meeting.
