Council approved the purchase of a trailer-mounted generator not to exceed $40,000 as part of the Vehicle & Equipment Program. Public Works Foreman Chase Forrester explained staff selected a unit sized for current needs and modest future growth and highlighted the inclusion of camlocks needed to connect to booster pump stations and City Hall. The recommended quote for the LK Power BDPU50 included camlocks in the base price; adding camlock cables to alternative generators would have increased cost by about $1,500.
Council discussed whether a hardwired generator for City Hall would be preferable long term, and City Administrator Beth Linn said the trailer unit is an appropriate first phase while a permanent solution remains on the long-term radar. Josh Lewis moved to approve; Deb Lebakken seconded and the motion carried 4–0.
