On Jan. 5 the Lindsborg City Council voted 6-0 to approve a 3.0% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for all regularly scheduled city employees, effective Jan. 1, 2026. Councilmember Larry Lysell moved the measure; Councilmember Ericka Lysell seconded the motion and the roll call vote passed unanimously.
Staff told the council that the Midwest Consumer Price Index rose 3.0% for the 12-month period ending November 2025 and that the 2026 budget had been prepared with a 5% total increase (to cover both COLA and merit). The approved approach applies a 3.0% COLA across the board while leaving up to 2.0% available for merit increases determined on a case-by-case basis by department heads and the city administrator at each employee's anniversary date.
