Council creates Streets Lead Operator role, places longtime employee

The Lindsborg City Council approved a new Streets Lead Operator job description and the pending placement of a current employee on Feb. 2, voting 8-0.
Council described the full-time position as a supervisory lead that reports to the Streets Superintendent and requires demonstrated equipment knowledge, a Class B commercial driver’s license and a pesticide applicator’s license. The role is modeled on the city’s Water/Wastewater Lead Operator position and is not intended to create a new job opening.
Pending council approval, the city will place Cody Weibert (Streets Maintenance II), who has served the city since Jan. 6, 2014, in the Streets Lead Operator role. Councilmember Andrew Smith moved to approve the job description, seconded by Council President Rebecca Van Der Wege; the motion passed 8-0 by voice vote.
City staff said the department will be structured with a Streets Superintendent, the new Streets Lead Operator, and either a Streets Maintenance I or II position; no additional hiring was authorized at this meeting.
