Council approves $8,309 mastic sealing rental and materials from Crafco

After reviewing two quotes, the Lindsborg City Council approved Crafco’s $8,309 quote for mastic seal melter rental and 12,600 lbs. of material to repair larger street cracks, citing newer equipment and additional material; vote was 5-0.
City staff explained that mastic sealant is a hot-applied, pourable, aggregate-filled polymer-modified asphalt used to repair cracks several inches wide and to improve ride quality on streets with large gaps. The Streets Department received two quotes for rental and material: Crafco ($8,309.00 for machine rental and 12,600 lbs. of material) and Pavement Maintenance Products ($7,895.00 for machine rental and 11,700 lbs.).
Staff recommended Crafco because its equipment is newer and has resulted in fewer downtime issues; Councilmember Larry Lysell moved to approve the Crafco quote and the motion passed 5-0 by roll call vote.
