Council appoints two members to KHAA, backs drone-association support up to $10,000

The Keystone Heights City Council approved two appointments to the Keystone Heights Airport Authority (KHAA) and signaled support for an upcoming National Drone Association (NDA) event. Vice Mayor Dave Welch moved to appoint Ryan Begue to KHAA Seat 4 for a May 2026–May 2029 term; Councilman Brandon Ludwig seconded the motion and the council voted 5-0 to approve the appointment.
For the KHAA Clay seat, applicant Scott Fryar withdrew his re-application. After hearing from applicants Mr. Hooks and Susan Drago, the council appointed Susan Drago to the Clay seat for a May 2026–May 2029 term by a 5-0 vote. Chairman Major General (Ret.) Eifert also reported interest from companies about bringing business to the airport; council members gave consensus to support the NDA event with up to $10,000 in support, while City Attorney Rich Komando noted legal limits on reducing county impact fees but said other incentives may be permitted.
