MBI wins Pathmaker grant to expand certificate training with WPI and MCPHS

MBIs workforce director said the organization was awarded a Pathmaker grant from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and will lead the resulting project, contracting WPI's Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center (BETC) to provide hands-on training and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) to run a quality-assurance/quality-control certificate track.
"We are gonna be heading the project and kind of outsourcing the training portion to WPI's Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center, and then Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is gonna be starting a quality assurance and quality control program," the director said, describing the grant-funded approach as aimed at short-term certificate credentials for people without advanced degrees.
The director emphasized the programs are designed for rapid entry into industry: certificate tracks of about eight to ten weeks provide foundational skills and standard operating procedure training that can qualify participants for entry-level positions and opportunities to advance. She noted some programs offer stipends and evening scheduling to accommodate working adults.
