Commission told city is updating online code; council to consider ordinance raising penalty maximums

City planning staff told the Planning Commission that the municipal code and newly approved charter are now posted on the city website and that a portion of Title 17 that had been omitted in prior online versions has been restored.
"It was basically a typo to remove it... So the portion with it is in there and it's online," the planning staff member said, describing the restoration of the missing Title 17 language. Staff also said an amendment to Title 1.20 (violations and general penalties) will be included on the council agenda for Jan. 21 as an ordinance to align penalty language and update fine amounts.
"The proposal is, is sending up to $500 to the council," the presenter said when summarizing the penalty update that will be reviewed by ordinance. Staff walked commissioners through gaps where ordinances adopted since 2004 had not been integrated into the codified code, citing examples such as recent sediment control and low‑impact development ordinances that need to be folded into Titles 12–17.
Commissioners were asked to review the code sections identified by staff and to anticipate future public hearings on proposed textual changes and map updates. No formal code amendments were adopted by the commission at this meeting; staff said the items will be brought forward for review and public hearing as the codification work proceeds.
