Council designates City Hall board as official posting location under HF 2490

The Ottumwa City Council adopted a resolution designating the first-floor bulletin board at City Hall as the official prominent location for posting public meeting notices, in compliance with amendments to Iowa Code section 21.4 made by House File 2490.
Clerk Chris explained that the board by the handicap-accessible entrance at 105 East 3rd Street will serve as the prominent, conspicuous physical posting location required by the statute, while meeting notices will continue to be posted on the city's website. Councilmember discussion included a request to also post notices in the elevator for accessibility; staff said they could do so informally although it need not be part of the resolution. The resolution (1602026) passed on roll call.
