Russell County board adopts 2026–27 school calendar with first student day Aug. 12, 2026

The board gave final approval to the 2026–27 school-year calendar after having conducted a first reading at a prior special meeting.
Chair read the calendar provisions and reminded members that KRS 158.070 requires the board to adopt a school calendar. The approved calendar provides 170 instructional days and at least the statutory minimum of 1,062 instructional hours. The approved dates set the first day for staff and students as August 12, 2026 and the last student day as May 20, 2027.
Board members said the calendar mirrors this year’s schedule closely and noted public survey support during the district’s review process.
