The Grantsville City Council on June 17 approved Resolution 2026-45 adopting amendments to the Fiscal Year 2026 year-end budget to align department expenditure accounts with actual year‑end spending. Finance Director Aspen Clegg told the Council the amendments included about $2.8 million in increases, much of which was associated with grant-funded projects; she cited roughly $106,000 in Community Development expenditures as an example.
Clegg said state law prohibits departments from exceeding approved budgets and that some increases reflected actual additional costs such as higher legal expenses; City Attorney Tysen Barker explained a portion of the legal-budget increase resulted from consolidating legal expenses previously charged across individual departments. The Council voted to adopt the resolution without recorded dissent among members present (Councilmember Butler was absent). The FY2026 audit will show the complete relationship between revenues and expenditures, Clegg said.
